Newly installed sod can typically be mowed after approximately 2 weeks. This will vary depending on how well you watered the sod and your soil type.

Lift up a roll of sod to see if the roots are starting to take to the soil. If you cannot clearly see the roots, you will have to wait a little while longer.

With a push style mower, raise the deck to the highest setting and mow in straight lines. Avoid rotating on the sod. For riding style mowers, raise the deck to the highest setting and set the throttle as low as it can go to avoid lifting the sod up into the blades. Also avoid turning on the sod as much as possible.
